Warren Jenkins Death Culpeper, Virginia Obituary: Former Culpeper Emergency Services Director Remembered
For more than four decades, Warren Jenkins devoted his life to protecting others. From joining a volunteer fire department as a teenager to becoming a respected emergency-services leader, his career was defined by service, courage and a commitment to his community.
Jenkins, a longtime member of the Culpeper, Virginia, emergency-services community, has died after a battle with cancer. Culpeper Emergency Services said he spent 15 years with the agency from 2002 to 2017, including his final four years as Director of Emergency Services. Historical Culpeper records also identify Jenkins as the county’s Emergency Services Director.
His path into public service began at just 13, when he became a junior member of the Warrenton Volunteer Fire Department. During his time there, he rose to Lieutenant and Captain. He later served with the Warrenton Police Department and Fauquier County Sheriff’s Office before becoming a firefighter/medic with the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority at Dulles International Airport.
During his MWAA career, Jenkins was among the first responders who went to the Pentagon following the September 11, 2001, attacks. He later served with Little Fork Volunteer Fire and Rescue and Amissville Fire and Rescue.
At Culpeper Emergency Services, he worked as a firefighter/medic and captain before becoming director. Colleagues remembered him as a mentor and an important member of their emergency-services family.
